Melbourne Newborn Photographer - Baby Session Information

Your newborn  baby photoshoot can be booked as soon as you know your due date. We take a limited number of bookings each month so it is important to make a booking as early as possible.  Late and early arrivals also means we have some last minute availability as well, we encourage you to get in touch! Newborn sessions are held Monday to Fridays.

The curly, womblike, sleeping images are best taken between 7 and 21 days of age.  If your baby is older than this we can still capture incredibly beautiful baby photography for you, we will adjust poses to suit your babies sleeping and awake times.

If choosing a mini-newborn session baby will be wrapped and can be aged 6 days to three months.

Our dedicated newborn studio apartment is located in Lilydale, in Melbourne's Eastern Suburbs.

Mini Newborn Session (wrapped baby only) are 45 minutes. 

Standard Newborn Baby Session length is usually 2 to 3 hours.  These include individual baby, family and sibling images. Sessions are baby led, we allow plenty of  time to stop and feed, change and re-settle as needed. 

Emma Hutch Photography was established in 2012. Undertaking specialised newborn photography training then, Emma has since captured over 750 babies in the past 12 years. Our business has stood the test of time, including two years of covid lockdowns, so rest assured we will be here for second, third and fourth babies as well!

Your precious newborn's safety and comfort is our primary concern. Emma is incredibly experience in handling, soothing and comforting newborn babies. You won't see babies completely wrapped up like a potato in our artwork. We love to capture their sweet little toes, dimpled hands and backrolls!

All standard newborn sessions include immediate family members for parent, sibling and family images. Extended family members may be included only by prior arrangement.

Mini newborn sessions are baby only.

Mini Newborn Sessions: We use wraps, headbands, bonnets and hats which can be chosen from our collection. One prop set up and one fabric colour backdrop can be chosen.

Full Newborn Sessions: We shoot for your tastes and colour preferences. Ultimately depending on baby's sleepiness on the day, we encourage parents to choose 3 different prop set-ups, one fabric backdrop colour, three to four outfits, plus hats and headbands. These will be co-ordinated together to suit our workflow of image taking and babies schedule.

Props, blankets, wraps, outfits, headband, hats and bonnets are supplied in the studio.

If you have personal items you would like baby photographed with, please mention these at the time of booking and before your session so they can be planned into the workflow on the day. Discretion of the photographer will be used for personal items.

We supply for newborn baby:

-outfits, headbands, hats, bonnets

-nappies, wipes, nappy disposal bags

-blankets, wraps, props, etc.,

You will need to bring:

-milk for baby

-outfits for parents, siblings

-snacks for siblings/parents as we shoot over morning tea time/lunch time

At the time of your session we will set a day and time to have your ordering session. The ordering session may be done by returning to the studio or alternatively online via Zoom.  This is held 1-2 weeks from the date of your portraits.

At this time you choose your package or collection and payment is due at this time. We accept cash, credit cards and direct bank transfer. 

Payment Plans are possible by arrangement when booking your portraits.

Mini Newborn Studio Session fee is $100. Mini Digital Package starts at $500.

The  full newborn studio session fee is $200.  All of our images presented to you are professionally hand edited. This includes skin retouching such as redness, jaundice, milkspots and dry skin for babies, bruises and bumps for children and dark circle removal for Mums and Dads is a family favourite as well.

Our full session packages and collections begin at $650 for a combination of professional wall prints and high resolution digital files.  Please use the contact form to be emailed the full session and pricing information PDF. 

Prints within packages are matted, ready to frame. Digital files are all high-resolution delivered on either USB or direct download link. We are a professional studio and use professional photography labs and suppliers for our products.  We can supply beautiful wall art - framed prints, canvas, framed canvas, plus professional albums and keepsake items.
